Because its very important for Americans to be different. We as a society (mostly) want to be left alone and live independently. Also historically our government was designed by men who believed that each man should live his own life free of government oppression they went to war to fight that. Say want you want about current issues but the US government and political culture was originally designed for the individual not the community. Also Americans think Socialism and Communism are the same and that scares the ignorant.

Thats the opposite of what i said. Yeah help people who need it but once people have recovered they shouldnt need further help. I dont want my livlihood to be dependent on the government.

I will say Denmark does have a super high GDP.
