I don't think it's the sole reason for depression obviously, but social media is definitely a cause for feelings of loneliness and worthlessness. Looking at people on vacation in places you will never be able to go because you'll never afford and pretending to be happy all the time is exhausting and terrible. I don't want to be preachy but I would seriously recommend taking long breaks from your phone, ipad, laptop, computer, and stuff like that. Avoid reading and watching the News for a while. I took a break for an entire day and I felt amazing.
