The Spanish didn't come to be friends with the Aztecs, they came for resources they could provide. Things like slaves and food and riches. The Spanish came in the year that the Aztecs calendar said it was a year of peace so they didn't have the trained strength to fight against the Spanish. And the killed their Aztec leader because they thought he had become weak in this time of crisis.
The Spanish won because they had advanced technologies that the Aztecs had no knowledge of
i.e guns, gunpowder, horses (they had none), dogs (they also had none), armoured soilders and so on.
That is the more you now know if anyone cares
