My middle school was strict, but no one cares at high school 7 comments

The problem is that my high school was sexist with the dress code. The school handbook specifically said no sagging pants and no form fitting pants, which was basically leggings. Girls got dress coded left and right for leggings like crazy but no one said a word if a guy was walking down the hall with the waist-band of his pants closer to his knees than his waist. Guys got away with breaking dress code all the time but god forbid a girl wear a v-neck t-shirt that just shows a hint of cleavage because it might distract the boys. Pisses me off. I don't even wear leggings or anything like that but this makes me mad.

It's the principle of the thing. The guy that used to pick on you way back when is now servicing you. It's a satisfying feeling.

especially bigger people. Fat floats so it's generally easier for bigger people to float on their backs without any problems. I'm overweight and bigger than my brother and my brother always struggles with floating in the pool whereas I have no issues with it.

And also, had that boy died due to the zoo attempting to tranquilize the gorilla, everyone would be arguing that the gorilla should have been shot. And if the boy had died, that gorilla would likely have been euthanized later.

Exactly. There was a post I read on FB written by a woman that works exclusively with gorillas and she came up with multiple scenarios that could have happened had they attempted to tranquilize. She said that specific specie(silverbacks) have a history of flipping their behavior around in a split second. Even if he seemed protective, he could have killed the child in an instant anyway. Plus tranquilizer drugs take about 10 minutes to take affect. Why would you risk that child's life for another 10 minutes? Plus had the gorilla been tranquilized he could have fallen on and crushed the boy or fallen in the water and drowned itself. It's unfortunate the zoo had to come to this decision, but given the circumstances at the moment of the incident, it was absolutely the right one.

Glad I'm not the only one thinking that. I'm so tired of seeing people's post about this saying they should have tranquilized because "the gorilla wasn't even hurting the boy" despite the fact the boy was slammed into a concrete wall and suffered a concussion. They're all looking for the smallest excuse to make the zoo look bad for deciding to shoot instead.

I would. My entire family would. Because every time we visit we just want to go back. And we have some family in Florida.

This and the gorilla incident are completely different and unfair to use the outcome of one to justify the outcome for the other.

wait so they have an app for it instead of just putting plaques in front of every exhibit going into more detail about it? I guess that's kind of cool.

honestly why would you do that when you're in a museum and there's probably a plaque right in front of you with more information about whatever you're looking at?

yeah like if I won the lottery, I could pay off college and my car. I could move out of my parents house and move to Florida and quit my job. I really want to travel the US and visit other countries and I could do that if I had money.

well it sure helps a whole lot.

well in the time it takes you to get clean dishes out to put in the dish rack, you could go ahead and wash a few dishes to put in the dish rack and leave fewer dishes in the sink.

That's the way it should be but unfortunately parents aren't doing that and then my generation grows up not knowing how be an adult or a parent. And not everyone has a proper parent or guardian to teach them these things. I think mine and future generations would benefit more if the school taught kids and teenagers these things to better prepare them.

I basically had true sex education but they called it abstinence. The main focus was about how abstinence is the only way to completely prevent pregnancy and STD's, but there was also some discussion about other forms of contraception and birth control and how effective they are.

I think we really should have both sex ed and abstinence education. Basically teach that abstinence is the only for sure prevention against pregnancy and STDs, but if you're going to have sex, here are other ways to prevent STDs and pregnancy.
And I think we should have parenting classes available because teen pregnancy is basically inevitable. There is always going to be the few girls that get knocked up in high school.
Along with adulting classes where we learn about taxes, getting a job, money management, taking out a mortgage, etc.
This all needs to be taught in high school because parents today aren't teaching their kids these things and some kids don't have anyone to teach them these things.
