While pigeons were extensively used in both world wars, it is unclear if any aerial photography was performed by pigeons.
These particular pigeons belonged to Julius Neubronner, an apothecary in the German town of Kronberg near Frankfurt, and the picture is most likely from 1907, when Neubronner started training his medication delivery pigeons for carrying cameras.
