Like the reason you would want the competitor recipe could be one of two reasons,
first being if they had something in it that you can make look bad to the public, decreasing their business and therefore increasing your own.
Second being you can make it under your name, so even people that preferred coke could get some from you, or even improve on it. Switching out low sugar for pure cane sugar, making it sweeter.
