Ima have to disagree with you there @ambertek. This has been going on since the dawn of civilization the difference being that nowadays with people being more connected via the Internet and popular media issues such as this have come from the dark recesses of secrecy to the forefront. You thinking that it never happened before today is you being blissfully ignorant.

I've not been diagnosed but ive always had the suspicion that i have some kind of dyslexia. As i mix letters up a lot when writing out a word and when i write out number sequences i get those backwards a lot too.

Double edged sword though mate, when i used to help individuals suffering from self harm and suicide you'd have individuals who would play it off. Individuals who thought they could stop when they wanted to. "It's only one cut." I heard that one a lot. They wouldn't necessarily refuse my help but they had convinced themselves that this was a simple thing when in reality you become addicted to the sensations caused by your illness. I know Individuals who aren't suffering through this that think it's just for attention and tell people to do this but there's also individuals who aren't too far down the rabbit hole who won't help themselves. Now I'm not saying everyone is like this, trust me there were many who were beyond what i could help them with other than be a positive influence in there shitty existence. It's hard and is a terrible thing.

Shoutout to when he threatened to sue the company who sponsored Direct Current electricity out of business over the fact that the dc electric current beat out AC to power the worlds fair. He forced the company to sell him the rights to the current in order to keep himself ahead.

See now here's where the issue takes place. The most common reasons for a teen or young adult to perform self harm, although this is jabbing at depression, is because of a dissasociation with the world around them and the only way to "wake them up" is through pain. This dissasociation occurs because of some sort of abuse stemmed from early childhood or traumatic experience. Often times when this is the case it's the parents who have caused this in some way. Seeking help from said individuals is often times hard to do and seeking outside help is even more hard to do.
