Democracy is the worst way to run a country, except for all the other ways you can do it.

When Hackerspaces started popping up all over the world, there was one that only had one rule; Don't do anything that causes us to have to make more rules. I often wonder how that turned out.

Why are you booing Cakelover? They're right! According to the UN Committee on Food Security we produce enough food for 12 billion people and the population is only 8 billion. The problem is we don't distribute that food. Housing is another problem that could be remedied but we just don't. The earth isn't overpopulated. Our systems just suck at resource management and allocation.

Anyone suggesting The Great (not in a literal sense) Sky Chihuahua isn't real needs to be brought before the Council of Elders, and throw themselves before Their Cheezburger ascended grace or be forever shunned for their blasphemy!

I remember that blew my mind back then. I still look up at the moon when it's visible during the daytime and think;
-Wow, I'm really standing on a planet that's evolving
And revolving at nine hundred miles an hour
That's orbiting at nineteen miles a second, so it's reckoned
A sun that is the source of all our power
The sun and you and me and all the stars that we can see
Are moving at a million miles a day
In an outer spiral arm, at forty thousand miles an hour
Of the galaxy we call the 'milky way'
Our galaxy itself contains a hundred billion stars
It's a hundred thousand light years side to side
It bulges in the middle, sixteen thousand light years thick
But out by us, it's just three thousand light years wide
We're thirty thousand light years from galactic central point
We go 'round every two hundred million years
And our galaxy is only one of millions of billions
In this amazing and expanding universe!

Those were interesting times. I remember the news and how the Samish had to destroy reindeer and we were told not to eat fish or wildlife because of the radiation. Moscow denied everything but any idiot could hear the Geiger counter ticking and see where the wind was coming from. Good times.

Of course, we have coffee every couple of days to catch up on each others lives and make the cleaning schedule. I suppose I could ask them if they've seen the Homo floresiensis.
