My brother in law tried for five years to get through college, and he couldn't do it. He was all worried and upset and thought his life was over. One of his friends recommended vocational school. He went to electrician school (whatever it's really called), and now he makes more money than me and owns his own small electrician company.
I get that college is a great thing, and it really can be the difference between having a "job" and a "career", but it's not for everyone. Some people don't need to take four semesters of a foreign language; they need an apprenticeship to a welder.
