God that must get annoying. I don't understand why people can't just accept it and not make a fuss, no matter what their opinion is.

Me and my wife must be in our own little bubble of love as I don't see (or pay attention!) anything like this when we're holding hands! (Lesbians btw!)

My (lesbian) friend does this to other couples. She's like "I know it's annoying, but..." They're either annoyed or a little creeped out.

Had a few problems being out with my boyfriend, but apart from the occasional hateful epithet, we've been okay. Oh. And some girls giggling and squealing when they see us... =_= That's almost worse.

I get the giggling too, and I have wondered if it's like "oh, I hear about them on the telly- Glee! Will and Grace!" Or if it's just their nervous energy, like if they'd seen a panda where they did not expect one. Never could quite pin that down.

Hm. I never thought about the second one. I just assumed it was more like the first. At some point though, there's usually a loud squeal of "AWWWww! So CUTE!"

That's very true- young queer men have the whole issue of being portrayed in the media in adorable ways rivaled only by puppies and patents- which is still stereotyping that people need to move past. Being in a couple where we both identify as female, we mostly get the whistles or the catcalls- because everyone knows that's sexy, right? Lol.

Well, my boyfriend almost is a puppy. He's cute and all, but the picture taking is a little much. I'm glad they're not hateful or hostile, but it's as annoying as shouting is terrifying.

Picture taking? That is still a definite invasion of your privacy and personal space- plus you guys aren't out walking around to teach the world anything- it's not your job to educate anyone, or be a prop to their "look, I'm cool with gay people, see!" Stories. I'd brainstorm a way you both feel comfortable politely declining their fangirling- Or start charging money. My girlfriend and I agree at least $10 for the two of you is minimum :-)

.. Don't understand the downvote, but it could just be that person that's going around downvoting everything I say..

People should just leave them alone and ignore it. It's not like they are effecting how your life is. I think it's good that they can go out and hold hands and not let what people say go to their heads

I just ignore them like every other couple I'm jealous of.
