Actually, once the blood is dry it's extremely hard to get off, cuz then you gotta get down to business. While it's wet, however, it's much easier to get the stain off.
Milk dissolves dried blood, it's amazing to watch!
For wet blood, soak in COLD water, maybe with a little vinegar added but that's not essential. Wash in cold water as hot water will 'cook' the proteins and set the stain.
And wear black knick knacks while you're due on and any stains are invisible....
