If they refuse to identify, call 911 and ask for supervisor to arrive to affirm the credentials of all officers on-site. (This also gives records that identification was withheld when requested on official call and incident logs. If they enter without warrant or consent, call 911 and and for a higher authority (sheriff office over city police, state troopers over sheriff). Again, call logs their offense and it HAS to be investigated and official report made. If officer entered home without RAS, they must explain to the responding officer why they entered.
When exiting house, LOCK the door behind you (but have they keys or combination to get back in).
Don't ask for badge number, as some departments allow officer to change if they want, or to have multiple badge numbers if they work for multiple agencies or teams (like SWAT, K9, or drug officer). Ask for state Commission for Law Enforcement (COLE) identification number. It's their officially issued license as a police officer #.
It's like their license to cop, and if they want your driver's license... you can ask for their license # too. You can ask for their picture ID, and to remove any disguise or face covering so you can visually identify them.
