Hold your peace or rest in peace

I would call that terrifying, lucky me that in my life it is an alien concept to do this.

I have been at a wedding where some did speak. It was their own kid.
The Preacher said speak now or forever hold your peace and the so said I NEED TO GO POTTY! lol

The mother of the groom said see son this is why you don’t wait to get married lol

This is a holdover from the days when things weren't quite as connected as they are now. It was a time for someone to stop the wedding if the groom had a wife and child a few towns over.
