People in Australia do conduct controlled burns, which let me remind you are done by people but fact is Australias temperatures and rainfall have changed so much that fires are starting themselves, more easily spread and more catastrophic. Not to mention "controlled burns" doesn't fix the droughts or floods that Australia is also facing.
Fires are only ONE of the problems and Australia is only ONE of the countries effected by climate change. Are we just gonna keep sticking a big ol bandaid on everything that’s getting messed up just cause some idiots refuse to accept that climate change is real?
Climate change is a nonfactor. If you stop using fire control measures that have worked for centuries, then you're going to get the worst fires in centuries. No good is done by trying to politicize the fact.
Oh yeah, controlled burns *that easily go out of control*
If ya didn’t know, most plants in straya are pretty dry.
Additionally, a lot of flora and fauna rely on the wildfires. Preventing them would harm the ecosystem.
Additionally, politics comes into it because doing these “controlled” fires requires permission and organisation
Right I’ve got to stop saying additionally.
But climate change is a huge factor. We’re getting hotter and hotter seasons. The plants drying out is exacerbating the issue.
Please don’t try to suggest a single solution and act like it would solve everything. None of this has a simple answer and I’d rather it not be presented that way
My response remains the same. You gotta consider, controlled burns aren't simple or easy, nor are fire breaks, or funnels, or the myriad of fire fighting and prevention methods out there. But they do exist, they are practiced and known, and global warming ain't drastic enough to render them ineffective, or even less effective.
Isn't it great how he knows the answer to this? Like, nobody in Australia thought of controlled burns, or other preventive measures, but famousone has figured it out!
Again my point was that controlled burns is one possible solution to one problem in one country. There are countries that won’t have the resources for even the suggestion of controlled burns. What about the rest of the problems caused by climate change?? Are we just going to keep putting a bandaid on every single problem or just expect the richer countries to be able to solve their own disasters and expect countries that don’t have the means to just perish? Wildfires isn’t the only climate change issue faced by Australia either if you really want to stick to the post
@famousone I know you're a very opinionated person and although I disagree with you most of the time, you usually have some decent reasoning. However, this time you seem to have have very minimal knowledge/ haven't done research on how this actually works. We HAVE controlled burn offs, we have specific seasons dedicated to them and this year our fire season started way earlier than it normally does (due to climate change) and this prevented our regular amount of burn offs to happen. In turn, each section of land that is burnt has to undergo a survey to check endangered plant species and habitats, usually they are burnt anyway if they are in close proximity to people but this process still has to be done to protect our wildlife as well as our people. Lastly, if we address the current fires going on in our country, the amount of burn offs we would have to do to 'counter' these or make any difference would be insanely unrealistic, most of the country would have to burn.
it is claimed thed it's more often, not a quality change (quantify one)?
