This reads to me more like an overpaid celebrity and the three men she paid to tote around on leashes in public at an award show to make some kind of obscure statement. But either way, still not illegal.

You might be right, and I don't know who she is either
Ah so it was exactly what I thought it was.
.
I am going to add that I'm not sure what world she thinks paying men to be subservient is "taking power," exactly.
.
Her comment:
"Reverse sexism? sexism is prejudice + power. men are the dominant gender with power in society. my VMAs outfit was a statement on me as a woman taking that power."
I also find it endlessly interesting that someone is upset because one of the men on a leash is black, and that's apparently unacceptable. The white men on leashes didn't seem to bother this person at all. Just the black guy.
.
So, if I'm understanding correctly, by this person's logic, whoever-this-chick-is should have denied this black man the opportunity to work (as odd a job as this may be) based on his race.
.
She states the men were willing, I'm betting they were all well compensated, and the internet once again has painted society in the colors of a clown car
I wasn't responding to a joke, or the post itself, I was responding to the people in the article (and elsewhere) saying with absolute seriousness that seeing a black dude wearing a collar is racism no matter the circumstances, and how dare she be so insensitive as to hire someone willing to play this role.
.
The post itself is commenting on the same thing, but likely is a joke, and idc about the post itself one way or the other. All of my comments have been about the incident itself and the response to it, not this specific post.
