Just have a doormat you can use/scoot over for when its not raining. Seems like an easy fix.

There are plenty of doormats made of mesh like materials to allow water through so even if it's raining you'd still be good.

Put your keys on a big honking as keychain that way even if you drop it the keychain will save it. This is why girls from the 90s never lost their keys down a drain. You ever see how many keychains they had for Ike 1 key. Lol I had the key to my house with 10+ keychains never lost it down a drain.
