So I had my suspicions and decided to track down the original post. Turns out it's a very old post from 2014, and, based on the hashtags, the tumblrer is indeed talking about GamerGate:

It. is. NOT. a superpower to be annoying. It’s not a superpower to hunker down in selfishness, stupidity, and self-aggrandizing grunts. Our entire species’ deal is the cooperative thinking that takes us somewhere useful and new. You’re literally throwing away your birthright, and making your own self subhuman. It. is. NOT. a superpower to run away from udimonoa or to prefer being a gadfly. It’s just a pathetic choice: you’d rather waste all the resources spent on you to this point.
