Why would that be a good moment specifically? obviously a good question to ask and its good that the nurse asked it but I don't get why then is a good time in particular?

Maybe consideration for the lil baby boo might change your thinking

I imagine because her partner wouldn't be suspicious of a nurse taking his partner off to the shower alone compared to if the nurse asked him to leave the room so she can talk to her. Also, if she does need to talk and takes a bit longer when she returns there is the excuse of needing help from the nurse for checking stitches or getting in/out of the shower.

For people in abusive relationships, giving birth might be the only time they're allowed in a hospital/allowed to be alone with someone who can help. It can be the only time to reach someone who couldn't get help otherwise.

Shower water can also mask an tears that might be shed and the water would hide the voices

@unicycle right. I am a nursing student and yours is the apt answer. I have had such a situation and the women did indeed need help. It is great that we can reach out to people.

My "brother" beat his baby mama. They didn't get married so she could get support as a "single mother" even though they live together. She accidentally got pregnant only 3 months after having one because she claimed she didn't know you could get pregnant while breastfeeding. Thankfully when she delivered the second one the nurse asked about her bruises and she fessed up. They said he can't see his kids again until he goes to anger management. Shitty parents but I hope for the best for my niece and nephew.

Seriously?? Essentially, she thought breastfeeding was some kind of contraceptive... & these morons are reproducing?! I worry about the future

The worst part was she was in school for nursing. Might want a career change. I try to offer her help. I hope the kids get more from their grandparents (her parents are Russian immigrants and totally smart and hardworking).
