I think the guest is referring to what Jesus is saying about people showing him as blond hair and blue eyed.

Im pretty sure theres a version of jesus in every race/ethnicity. The most common one today is the white iteration because it's easier to convert someone of another religion to your religion if they look similar to you. Christianity boomed in popularity in Europe after Emporor Constantine accepted christianity as the religion of the roman empire. The white iteration is so popular throughout the world because of Islam taking over the religious spectrum of most of the middle east and later european colonialism.

Partially true. Budai is a deity from China who is larger in size and stature. He is depicted as a monk who is about fortune, luck, and happiness. Some consider him to be a Buddha, but “Buddha” as a name often refers to Gautama Buddha- a singular person who was a Buddha and is often seen in statues of a Buddha of more average build for the time. A Buddha is one who has achieved a state of enlightenment, with the exact details required for the title varying by sect of Buddhism. Gautama was born as royalty but renounced his titles and possessions and lived a simpler life. He advocated a life not deprived of things but also not over indulgent or over invested in material concerns. So usually when you see the “laughing Buddha” you are seeing Budai, who spread from China to Japan, Korea, Vietnam, etc. some people, even Buddhists get mixed up on it, and there’s some who believe Budai IS a Buddha, so that doesn’t help clarify for most who don’t understand that there is more than one Buddha.
