there's nothing wrong with recording a great moment in your life to be able to rewatch it and relive the experience. Memory fades, files don't.

It‘s nice to record an event to have for memory sake, but if you do it all the time it‘s not so fun anymore. Some people get carried away and are more interested about how many likes their video(s) will get on social media without actually enjoying the event itself.

If it's a great public event, I'd rather watch it with my own eyes that very moment, I can still watch professionally made footage and pictures of that said event and much better recall my personal presence there. Most people can recall emotions better than actual facts. If it's only me seeing something great, it probably better to record it myself, obviously.

This is odd because my father liked to take pictures. So we'd have this bigass camera there. This was back in the film days, so you'd have to wait for film to develop. Because of that, you'd take a lot of pictures, because you didn't know if that shot came out right, have extra rolls of film since they were limited. So even before the smart phone came about, we were still like the people in this photo.
