As a Maharashtrian, I'd like to just say that Shivaji Maharaja's Swarajya was the greatest thing in that time period to happen. He was king but not monarch. Swarajya is self rule.. People's rule

solid stone versus concrete and tiles, of course the tiles will degrade and chip

The stone under the tiles look withered as well, like the tiles were put on top as a fix. It's like the bottom set of stairs get significantly more traffic than the ones up top.
