Thank you, @spookykink. In case anyone was wondering, when your brain goes on autopilot, that’s called ‘microsleep’.

Was listening to a psychologist on the radio regarding this - also called 'highway hypnosis'

I once drove from San Diego to Anaheim and remember zero percent of it. It was pretty scary.

5 minutes? I've driven way longer than that only to realize I had no idea how I got from there to here. Used to happen alot when driving to school in the early mornings. Have a cousin that once got up and took his brother and sister to school drove back got into bed and remembered nothing. He could only remember going to bed and then waking up later in the day.

I’ve done this- got up, took the kids to school, went home and back to sleep only to freak out later looking for the kids... took me a solid 5 minutes of “where are the kids, wait- what day is it? Did I take them to school already?” I called the school to confirm, it was that bad- pregnancy brain and insomnia did NOT mix well that day.
