Fun fact! Most Japanese outlets will work just fine with American appliances, as long as they are rated for a lower voltage.

Doesn't Japan have two voltages, one in the North and another in the South? I have that vague memory in my head for some reason, it may be wrong.

The moment I realized I was a true American was when I was looking at this thinking about traveling and I was momentarily offend that the outlets weren't universally fit for my charger regardless of the functionality of design.

Russia actually uses both in the middle right. I don't think there's much of a difference, but the one closer to the centre is even more common if I remember correctly.

My family and I went to Europe last summer and a friend of ours warned us about the different outlets and gave us a bag of different ones we could use. Thank god for her or else we wouldn’t have been able to charge anything.
