Listen okay, this dog is exactly like a person who is self harming. Do you see how adorable and loved she is by the people around her, and even by us strangers on the internet? We all want to make it better for this poor sweet creature. Don’t let your bad memories of abuse influence you like this, if you are self harming, know that you are just as cared about and loved as this doggo.
Dogs do this due to floating limb syndrome it has something to do with miss firing in the brain and nerve endings in the body part they attack. Some think it is also due to the mother dog being unable to care for the dog during it's socializing stage of growing up.
The animals won't stop because they see that body part as a separate person/animal and they feel threatened so they growl first as a worrying but seeing as it is their own leg it can't go away so they attack it as if it was a separate animal.
I had a dog go through this after she was hit by a car she lived but she would attack her right leg just like this we took her to the vet and they told us all about it. They said if it was her tail it be a bit easier to treat because they could take the tail off.
