yeah, there's a case in Australia that the son got in an accident and the father donated blood, but turned out wasn't a match, he was not the father. He'd been paying child support and tried to get the money back and stop it. But the Child Support Agency stated as his name was on the birth certificate, he had to pay, despite it being proven he wasn't the father.
That is messed up but to reference the case in the actual post, the guy was with this woman still when he found out so I understand why he would want to divorce her but regardless of blood, his kids are still his kids. That's how I would feel personally but idk all the legalities behind child support and such.
If something like the being forced to pay still happened in America there would be new coverage for like 20 minutes and then never again because media basically refuses to cover anything about men's rights. If it happened a few times eventually someone would take it to the Supreme Court.
When my son was born (and since I never married the nutty women) I had to sign an 'affidavit of parentage' saying I was the father (to my knowledge anyhow) which would make me subject to paying child support if I hadn't won custody of him anyhow.
CSA (Child Support Agency) most often favours the mother, regardless of what the situation. There's another, father, 3 sons, they live with him, but he pays child support to his exwife still, her and the new boyfriend believe they are entitled to it because he, the father, makes more money than both of them combined. How is that even fair? But the CSA still insist he pays the mother.
I do get paid child support (well it's owed anyhow to the amount of about $4000, she doesn't pay) if he has custody in any form over joint he needs to appeal that.
An the ones who really suffer are the kids. I know he feels betrayed an all but if he was raising the kids as his own an he is all they know. I don’t know if I could just stop taking care of them. But to each their own.
I've wondered about this possibility myself a few times. I don't think I could stop thinking of them as my kids, in that situation.
The laws in this situation really do seem to be f@cked, though. You'd think someone would tweak them into something with a little more common sense.
That poor dude
