I want to live in a world where we all have equal value and opportunity, but I don't want to live in a world where we are all exactly the same. It is the differences between men and women which make people attracted to the gender of our choosing, or to both genders instead of only one. Being an empowered female means not having to give up what you feel makes you female in the interest of success. This is also true of men of course. Any gender should be free to thier self identity so long as it doesn't impinge upon others freedoms.
Women weren't created. Women evolved. Women are homo sapiens, and the only thing they can do that a man homo sapien can't is pop out a baby, and any biological necessities that go along with it. Anything "unique" was constructed along with civilization, since before that most homo sapiens pretty much did the same jobs. And don't give me the "hunter/gatherer" paradigm either, because those roles came from developing family bands and the first stages of an organized culture. As basic animals, strip away the technology and the created economies and drop them back in the plains, human beings are basically all the same and nobody is special or unique.
There is (general, not 100% of the time) psychological and hormonal differences too. It is ok to be different. We are all unique :) the fight for equality is so we can all have the same treatment and rights. Btw I doubt the caveman had a social agenda. Not arguing, just noticed a little anger on your post
There's no anger, it's just facts. There's really not that much difference, even in thought processes. It's been found that the brains of two men will differ more than the net differences of the brains of men and women in general. The same with the physical differences, and even hormone levels. There's such a vast range of physical characteristics within each gender--not to mention from locale to locale--that to say "men are unique because" or "women are unique because" is mostly wishful thinking. The differences that are there trend to be on a lower level, such as resistance to medications or immune system differences.
To first address the science side here- "not much" is a little vague and can make a big difference. A human and a monkey are separated by about a 1% Genetic difference. Gender is a social construct, a system of classification created by humans. Humans created women, evolution just created people. The idea of gender is to group pairs that can reproduce. Many humans either do not desire to reproduce, or have a preference for the same gender and can't reproduce with their partner. As forms other than heterosexuality are increasingly accepted gender would become only relevant to reproduction. However we have observed that in majority of samples men and women tend to respond more favorably to certain smells, visual cues, and stimulus regardless of sexuality or ideas on gender roles. It's debateable how much is social and how much is based on our physical differences. The fact remains though that even in a world where "men" could give birth, the very existence of.... continued....
Cont... a classification system like gender creates a perceived difference. It is shown that where groups exist the majority of people will pick a group identity, and that we tend to distill the world to "us" and "them" regardless of how similar our groups are. Thusly we associate femininity and masculinity with a respective gender. The ideas and requisites for each concept have changed over time and continue to do so. Social and political trends can shape what is "gender appropriate" It's all contextual but what doesn't change is that most men and women agree we are different, different enough to require our very own special word other than "human" to delineate us. We could eliminate the concept of gender completely to remedy this, but as we see with many groups today we would likely just re classify ourselves into many smaller more specialized groupings based on whatever arbitrary factors we decide and end up back here. We may as well celebrate our differences no matter how small.
Your point is exactly my point. The differences were created by people and aren't necessarily there, even if they're perceived to be. Even what attracts a man to a woman and vice versa, such as smells and looks, can differ wildly among locales and cultures and can't be considered a universal difference, and can and do differ greatly in a single group of men or women from the same place. And that aside, differences for mating purposes don't automatically translate to differences in general species population. I already pointed out women have babies. Men and women being sexually attracted to each other doesn't constitute enough difference to justify what people TRY to use it to justify, such as this "stop saying everyone is equal" stuff.
My point is I have no idea what your point is. Sex is supported in physical science, gender is not. It's defined as the differences between gender groups. By definition and virtue of fact we know there is no one single difference between those called "male" and "female." A combination of socially agreed traits make each, and as there is no man or woman "v2.0" gender, each is unique as are their traits- being the one and only. The uniqueness spoken of above is intangible, I doubt she means laser vision and more likely the literal difference between male and female. This is different by individual or group perception, but universally the two groups have positive traits identified with that gender. The only contrary point I could see is an argument to reject the existence of gender. So long as gender exists, there will be gender associated traits, as this says that doesn't mean accepting gender prejudice, just that by default we are not identical.
Btw, what is it, exactly, that a man "can't" do that I'm supposed to be taking over? Cause as far as I can tell, that's "grow a kid inside one of my bodily organs" and that's your lot.
The future isn't female or male
It's equal
And until everyone realizes that we all come down to the same things, then we're going nowhere

womans can do what they want. they don't need to do what guys can't. they can do what ever they want, where and how they want. same counts for guys. equality and stuff.. heard about it?
There is a point to be made here. Women who choose to embrace their feminity are shamed by feminists. If I want to have a husband and kids and be a housewife, I am told that i am submitting to the patriarchy and that I must hate myself. If a man wants to do more masculine things, such as protecting and providing for his family, he is called a pig and an oppressor. Men and women are strong where the other is weak, and it allows us to work together as a unit. Ignoring what makes either gender special and shaming people who embrace a more traditional way of life only drives everyone further apart.
I think the feminist argument is that in the modern world those roles are just social constructs and not based on gender specific skills anymore (women are capable of working, men are capable of looking after kids) so they aren't really feminine or masculine.. They're just choices
Exactly. I am a feminist, and I definitely do not look down on my friend staying home with her child. Feminism is about letting women making their own choices and getting the same opportunities. I'm just mad that her husband got very little paternity leave.
But certain traits aren't part of one gender and not the other. What one gender is capable of and the other is not is a false theory because the roles and abilities of genders are just a social construct
There is much confusion in general on topics like this. To begin- generalizations are just that- a quick and simple way to categorize unknowns to aid in making decisions based only on our perceived and observed world. At an individual level a man and woman of the same build will likely be similarly matched in strength. On the whole the male sex tend to have greater upper body strength than women due largely to higher testosterone and the presence of more androgen receptors in the upper body. Cognition is not easily quantified so differences in memory I will leave alone but say it's a dubious conclusion at best. The next confusion is that men and women have different physical attributes by sex, not gender. the two often correlate but do not do so inherently, and while one can generalize a gender by sex it will not always be the case. It's best due to cultural differences in gender norms to separate distinctions when discussing sex vs gender traits.

even if womans are natural not as strong as mans, they can train & then be stronger than most mans. same counts for mans.. the can train their brain / mind and are then maybe better at brain-stuff than womans who don't train. it depends mostly on what you want to do, and if you train for it.. not your natural ability to do stuff. it's everything about "you want something? do something for it!".. nothing more. imho. if there are really natural differences between woman and man's, this don't mean anything.. this difference is not really big if you ask me. everyone who want's to do something, can do it with training.. so natural abilitys don't count here if you ask me. there are womans on the world who are stronger than most mans because they wanted to be strong and then beginned to train.. so yeah. natural abilitys don't count a s*it if you ask me.
For example... I suck at making sandwiches, so that's my wife's job...
It's equal
