Rape, incest, and a threat to mother’s life - no question abortion should be available. Some cases of fetus deformities that will prevent a successful birth should be considered with a doctor.
For abortions I say until the baby is capable of living independent of its mother. If it can then the hospital may keep it if they want, so no making the parent pay thousands in medical fees trying to save its semi-life. Once the... thing is stable then it could be put up for adoption although I have A Modest Proposal that could be installed...
And nobody wants to hear what is essentially homophobia. Grow up. You are acting like such a child about this. You sound like an old religious nut who spouts about how gays are going to hell. Not to mention that I'm not a pedophile myself.
Homosexuals are capable of understanding and consent. Not to mention that there's no power imbalance, psychological trauma, or fucking up lives that haven't even really started.
.
Do not equate the issues, there is no comparison.
Whether the actions of pedophilies are wrong or not is the discussion. The discussion is whether or not someone should be judged and hated for something they were born as. It's wrong to hate black people for being born black. It's wrong to hate gay people for being born gay. It's just as wrong to hate pedophiles for being born with pedophilia. It is a sexuality just the same as heterosexuality, homosexuality, bisexuality, and many others. To hate someone for something they have no control over is irrational and childish.
You think it's bigoted of me to hate the worst kind of sicko? The kind that victimize kids the world over on a daily basis? If that makes me a bigot then call me Adolf fucking Hitler, because the day western civilization decriminalizes that shit will be the same day I burn it down. And everything else, too.
Okay, wait - when you talk about defending pedophiles, do you mean the people who are just sexually attracted to children, or do you mean the ones who *actually molest* children? Cause those are two separate groups of people about which I'm guessing people have different sets of opinions.
Yeah, that sucks. It's the only sexual orientation I can think of in which you know there are zero ways to engage it without harming another human being. There's a reason a lot of people who realize they have that get suicidal real fast, and a lot of places will penalize them just for trying to get help to avoid acting on it.
Poisonous ideology? Taking revenge on your rapist? Sure, it's not the best thing to do, but if there's anything that'll strike fear into the hearts of rapists, it's that.
Maybe so but the bastard deserved it. She did the world a favour and probably saved a huge number of people becoming victims to this horrible excuse of a human being.
People focus on the wrong parts of stories like this. Her reasons for doing something don't matter. Who she killed doesn't matter. What matters is what she did and that was unlawfully murder someone.
There's a line in self defense. You can't cut the leg off someone because they poked your arm and claim 'self defense'. She went way past the line of merely defending herself.
She cut and threw his head into town square. The man was dead for before his head was cut off. She is a criminal and deserves to be charged as such. End of the line. There is such a thing as self defense, but if you use excessive force then you have no legal justification. You are allowed a REASONABLE amount of force to STOP someone from attacking you. DECAPITATING said person is far exceeds this stopping point.
Murder is still murder. It doesn't matter if the victim was a rapist or a nice old lady from down the street, if you kill someone you should still go to jail. And it wasn't in self defence either: she sought him out and killed him.

I agree what she did was right. But the way she did it was wrong.
The law is always completely just. People consider right and wrong based on what is illegal. The only exceptions to this are certain people known by two things: terrorists and revolutionaries. Which one they are called depends on what side you ask.
@celticrose It actually says that she somewhat reasonably defended herself before defiling a dead body and causing civil disorder. It takes effort to shoot someone in the head. It is so much easier to just attempt to incapacitate someone by shooting their torso. To shoot for the head means that you were shooting to kill.

And she shot him 10 times. Once or twice would've been sufficient.
That's wrong on more levels than I can address, but I'm gonna try.
Laws are only just when written and enforced by just people.
Morality determines law, not the other way around. That's why laws change, and why different cultures have different laws.
And your "exceptions" fail to account for the countless lawyers, lawmakers, protesters, voters, ect, that challenge laws and punishments everyday.
Laws change because people of other cultures spread and technology and sciences change. They are slow changes that typically take decades of effort to get the smallest change. It took several hundred years for gay marriage to be legal, did it not? That's because it took that long for the idea and justifications to spread.
@grimreaper oh so it's okay for sexual predators to sit in the Oval Office but if someone tries to get justice outside the law after being raped they deserve to be in prison. But again, but sexual predator can be president, that's okay.
I can see why she did it, and why she deserved a life sentence.
Why she did it: guy, raped, oogled, and made her had his child.
Why she deserved the life sentence: she went into overdrive with this shit.
Also, Trump: 1. He apologized, 2. FOR A JOKE IN A PRIVATE CONVO
The Turkish authorities weren't doing jack shit. The fault falls on the government in this case. First for abandoning a victim of one of the worst crimes, and then for punishing her for taking a rapist off the streets when they should have.
The Turkish government failed to deal with the rapist themselves. In the absence of effective protection or enforcement, it is only natural and right for the common person to take defense and punishment into their own hands.
Turkey is not like the United States, their legal systems and law enforcement are abysmal, and often worse than nothing.
@hydrofalcon I guess we have different opinions on this matter, I don't think that the law is just. Especially here in Sweden. By my measures, the law as it is now should just take a step back, let the victim decide what punishment is suitable, and leave it at that. For me, there is only 2 punishments for rape: Death or lifelong torture. A rapist doesn't deserve more than that.
I say at the mid or end of first trimester.

*Flies off like superman*
You mean the ones that instilled morals and law into our children and institutions??

But she takes consequence for her action too
