It was actually found behind the placenta during the c-section and one of the nurses put it in his hand for the photo. The mom figured it was a perfect tongue and cheek reminder that no birth control is 100% effective

The pill is. The only reason it's never claimed as 100% but as 99,9% is because of mistakes in ingestion.

Nah, its still only 99% if it's taken properly, there can be all sorts of reasons it fails. Mistakes in injection take it down to about 87%.

No pill is 100%. I've known women to get pregnant on them, and yes, they were taking it correctly.

An IUD, just like the one above in the newborns hand, is more effective than the pill according to science anyway. @Mialinay

Yeah, I'm on the ring and even that isn't 100% effective, even though it completely eliminates the possibility of forgetting to take it one day. No temporary method is 100% effective, even the best ones are 99.8-99.9%, the ring for example has about a 1 in 400 chance of getting pregnant. So pretty close to 100%, but not quite.
