Wow. Just a whole other level of fucked up shit to come from cancer.

Its also hard on the opposite side of the spectrum, the healing that has to occur when the patient loses. A week from tomorrow will be my first birthday after my mother died, I'm not looking forward to it. And not to forget I also lost my close friend to cancer last year too.

Every single one of us has cancerous cells in our bodies. If you live long enough, I guarantee some of those cancer cells will survive and thrive to the point where they are detectable cancers. However, chemotherapy provides a selective pressure for cancer cells that are not effectively destroyed by those agents. So after a cancer patient completes their treatment, and no more cancer cells are found, the chemotherapeutics have wreaked havoc on their normal body cells and clonal populations of chemoresistant cancer cells are afforded the opportunity to gain a good foothold and thus recur. Both the disease and the current treatments are really shitty.

i've been told the fear of a reccurence is even worse. you may beat cancer but you continue fearing it might return for the rest of your life. apparently the regular check-ups are literal hell.

No longer being sick. Yeah, that's fucking horrible. I hope I never have to go through that hell. I'd much rather feel miserable for the rest of my life than have the chance to get better. You cancer people come up with some of the dumbest shit passed off as insightful.
