The arm is better at supporting a growing ear than the area that the ear was originally. Thus, they place it on the arm to develop until they can transplant it into position. They've attached fingers to bellies for similar reasons.

I still don't get it. This isn't his ear? They put the donor's ear there... to accommodate ? And then put it where it should be? Where it couldn't stay so they put it(past time) on the arm in the first place . How will it accommodate then, then? They have to cut it and saw it. And how does an ear grow?

It's grown using a cell scaffold. It probably isn't a donor ear.
