I've earned my crashing sucks sticker several times. Fortunately my worst was a chain break thst locked up the back wheel in a T shirt and jeans. Slid arms first on gravel for a bit. The er folks use a brush to remove that grit.

Never had a chain break do anything but coast me to a stop, but I once took a recently purchased bike out and opened it up without a thorough once-over. I was above 110 and noticed later I had about 2 inches of slack in my chain! Close call.
