In some species sure. In hyenas and Bonobos, however, the female is the dominant alpha. And in most species there's no such thing as an alpha.

Yes, it is impolite. Before down voting, it's best to ask or say your disagreement about it first. If they reason good enough, cancel the downvote. And if one is asking why, why downvote them? It's like we aren't permitted to ask

I'm not disagreeing with you, but it is funny that there is an expected etiquette to online posting.
