My grandma does it. It's really annoying. I don't even understand what do these people gain from doing this. Making your own family member look like an idiot, or making yourself look better?

You have a point there but I noticed that the way she does it is always to make me (or anyone else figured in the story for that matter, except for herself of course) look like a total idiot even though what she's saying is a blatant lie. I suppose I haven't made that clear in the first comment, so my apologies.

Agreed, sometimes it's positive but for some reason, I always feels like she's bragging about her "perfect son" but I feel that when people meet me, they can be a little bit disappointed because how much my mom would talk them up about me.
