Many on ramps have yeild signs and even traffic lights.

Or signs for a specific speed limit on the ramp

The yellow sign with a speed on it is a suggestion not an actual speed limit

Right. The white ones are the posted speed limit. A lot of people don't seem to know that one either.

Very true. As far as the yield signs, that means you don't have the right of way *even with your blinker on* to enter the highway but most on ramps are designed in such a way that gives you the chance to get up to highway traffic speed instead of having to dart in and gun it

I totally get you, but a better design would have you descending onto the freeway, in case you're driving a shitbox and/or are stupid.
