First time I spent Forth of July in the states I heard a bang then a scream and to this day I still have no idea if I overheard a murder or a celebration

Probably an accidental murder by firework. It's kinda funny, my brother works at a champs store that is closest to the reservations (not as close as it sounds) and after the Fourth of July a bunch of Native American kids/teens came in with lots of extra cash to spend. Normally they make a couple THOUSAND per week on this while people stock up, but they'd been making less than usual. Only a few thousand less than normal. This is all I remember from my brother's story. Still, we love our fireworks THAT MUCH.

We love big fireworks and buy a lot from native americans. Those are illegal for a reason. We can get a little explosion-happy and accidents happen. And I remember now that this last summer the drought caused them to be banned in fear of starting even more wildfires

I had a similar experience in Turkey. :P Every night I would wonder. By the end of my vacation, I was used to it.

Every fourth of July my brother comes in and goes "It's time to play the hood's favorite game. Firework....Or gunshot". I didn't know this was an actual thing.

I live in the murder capital of the world. Hearing both are a norm.

It's crazy cuz Mythbusters proved that shooting bullets in the air can still kill a person when it comes back down

The Australian version is wondering if it's firecrackers or a drug lab blowing up!
