Regarding the title, lay on your bed in the dark in whatever position is most comfortable, close your eyes, and start daydreaming. Make a little story in your head and let your mind wander, relax and eventually you drift and it either transitions into a dream or just changes as you sleep.
Another technique is to just focus on your breathing until you drift off, it usually works within 10 minutes or so.
And you're absolutely not the only one, trust me.
Start a timer for when your curfew's gonna be, also. Sometimes when I have trouble, even if you don't actually drink warm milk, somehow thinking about the sensation works. Other people say to slowly try to recall how your day was, but if it was full of regret like most of ours, then that isn't so effective. You can try relaxing music if you want.
And trust us. You are not the only one with this problem.
