I like the Ancient Astronaut theory, it's a pretty unifying theory for a lot of things. Doesn't mean it's true, but it makes riding along on Spaceship Earth seem a bit more interesting for the time being.

Ha I wish people would stop with this whole alien thing they could be real, of course they could, its actually pretty likely, but what would it matter to us if they did, Know what I mean guys and gals.

Doesn't mean they didn't either! I'm puzzled though. "Science" doesn't believe in God, and most scientists accept the probability that we are not alone in the universe, so why would "Mr Science" (my label) mock the possibility that we have been visited and the ancients developed their religions from those interactions?

Believing in aliens to account for any yet unexplained shit is not less a religion than believing in any other type of omniscient, superior being(s). Science is a lot about probability and plausibility, and considering the very short time we as human beings are present on this planet, its neither plausible nor probable we had contact to other civilizations, being capable of visiting us and motivated to do so. Otoh its pretty likely that there are, have been and will be more planets like ours enabling the development of life as we know it. No contradiction here.

Sounds like pretty twisted logic. You can't have it both ways. IF there is the possibility of other intelligent life out there, then why is there no possibility that they would explore the heavens? We are, and I'd bet that when we have the technology to travel to the stars, we will make a stop in the first inhabited rock we find. Less than a century ago it was a scientific FACT that man could not create enough force to leave the atmosphere. So-called scientists are the most closed minded bunch I have ever met. They always declare whatever they think they know at the time as indisputable fact. Nevermind how many times their theories are disproven and they have to reset, the new theories are again indisputable fact. From Merriam-Webster: (religion is) a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith. Those who steadfastly cling to scientific proclamations despite any possibly contrary evidence sound an aweful lot like zealots to me.

Did you read what I wrote? Its not about possibility, its about probability. We humans are on this earth for a few hundred thousand years, which in "galactic" proportions is not even a wink. Just for a few years we have been able to leave earth's orbit or send spaceships to a few planets within our galaxy. Contact of the third kind would require a) a far more advanced alien technology and b) it would be needed within this unbelievably small period of time we are even here. It's not impossible, it's just extremely unlikely. A scientist would not say, there's definitely no god (or alien contact in that matter), he would say its so unlikely, that it may as well be treated as not existent, until there is any proof. That is a huge difference, and sorry, but if you don't get this difference, you should probably not discuss science. In science, no such thing as an indisputable fact can exist. The lack of actual information cannot be taken as a proof, and that is what deGrasse Tyson said.

And your PhD is in what field again? You make my point for me in your response. We are newbies, but if there is a PROBABILITY that there are older civilizations out there, then there is a PROBABILITY that they are more advanced than us. Therefore there is a PROBABILITY that they began exploring the universe before us, leading to a POSSIBILITY that they COULD have contacted us. Less than a century ago there was an astonishingly widely accepted PROBABILITY that blacks, homosexuals, the mentally challenged, the infirm, many immigrants and others were of a lesser intelligence and should be controlled for the greater good. This have rise to eugenics, which was championed by a man named Hitler. Science rules.

Three (3) probabilities in a chain and you still don't get it. Whatever man. Still nobody denies the possibility. And this ending up your argument with Hitler is just epic. Oh, btw: my PhD is in bullshit detection.
