It only works on a magnetic track. Not quite what we're looking for but still cool

It also requires that the superconductor of the board is kept at extremely low temps.

They had this tech back in 2011. And I still say it'd be useful for hoverboard rinks the same way we have skate rinks and trampoline parks and other "pay us to use our equipment and facility to have fun" places. While the entire world isn't a supercooled magnetic track, a rink in a powered facility could be.
