I think you're confusing "feminists said" with "some women said". Not everything a woman says is automatically a feminist viewpoint. For example, I want a Hobbit door for my new house. Does that mean all feminists want Hobbit doors?
Amen, it's also sad that most people (because of the bad feminists) can't even remember what the word means anymore, and instead of it being positive, it's now negative. I firmly believe in feminism, but not like screw men and power women, but by giving anyone a chance, despite their sex. It's just sad world we live in now. Soz for the overload.
I don't think feminism is seen as negative, I think a certain group of ppl are trying to make it seem like it is, but over all feminisim is still seen as a positive. I guess it's all about the forums you go to most, the Internet is a haven for masogyny but it's changing.
There are no "bad" feminists, just insane men and women. When a woman screams and rants about killing men or whatever she isn't a feminist, since feminism excludes superiorism of one sex. Just because a crazy woman calls herself a feminist doesn't make her a feminist, just as a crazy man calling himself a tree doesn't make him a tree.
If you treat your statement like you treat everything else, imagine how the world would be? "Real children play with toys" etc. We don't decide who's a real anything.
.. categories have definitions. someone might claim they belong to a category, but if they do not fit they are not. like, i might say i am rich and think xyz, but if i am not rich then my opinion is not what rich people think.
Here's the thing... I don't really think it's about "feminism."
.
It's about all of us.
.
Kermit and Miss Piggy were together in an abusive relationship since 1978. No one said anything. Not second wave feminisim, not third wave, not feminatzism, not men's advocacy, not even the general public. No One.
No one at any point said anything. Why? Because it was funny. We thought it was funny for Miss Piggy to beat up Kermit. We normalized an abusive relationship and turned it into a joke.
.
Did we ever at any point "protest" that it wasn't a healthy relationship and that Henson Studios shouldn't popularize one?
No, we laughed. We laughed for 37 years.
.
I'm just as guilty. I'm disappointed in myself for not having seen through the this. Especially considering I was in an abusive relationship too.
*sigh* please get rid of guests.
