Am I the only person who doesn't want to go to university because I don't want to be in debt for however many unknown years..?

Either go to a cheaper one or the community college and then transfer route.

Or get into a trade, working with your hands!! Plenty of companies will hire right out of HS, then pay you to learn. "Blue collar" work is NOT failing. I know a lot of blue collar people who make a lot of money in a very satisfying field.

That is also an option but most people looking into a 4 year university aren't exactly looking towards a blue collar career. Nothing wrong with getting your hands dirty for a living though. Some actually pay very well.

Pretty much exactly what i ment. Kids have been told all through highschool that you NEED a 4 year in order to be happy. The fact is that @ 17 years old you have little knowledge of what you want. Thats a tough time to make a decision that dictates the course of your life. Dont be afraid to take a little time in the workforce.

If you realize the debt concerns and you still choose to attend, your not a victim to anyone. You're simply creating a supply for a demand that is not there, and btw your paying a pile of $ (tuition and lost years of experiance) to do it.
