I've never held a gun (or seen come to think of it) but I've always heard that if you're gonna pick up a weapon use it. Having said this, I would have opened the door into the first guy and put a shot through his knee or someplace painful and disabling then beat up the other ones.

This is my guess: He had almost no time to think, so he was just reacting, not making a plan. Also, if it were me, I would miss a kneecap. I believe your supposed to go for center mass (chest) so you have a better chance of hitting the person.

Those shots were meant to kill. The reason one aims for center mass is that with adrenaline pumping most of your shots will miss by a very wide margin. It takes a lot of training to overcome this... more than most officers get. He was trying to shoot him in the chest and missed because of the fear.
Never try to shoot someone in the knee. It's stupid. If you don't need to kill someone you don't shoot them. A knee shot will sever the popliteal artery and he will bleed to death anyway... IF you even hit the knee, which again, is a stupid target. Most shots will miss the chest at a range of 5 ft. What makes you think you're hitting a knee??! Are you James bond?? Get out of here with that movie garbage...
Ok serious question when in an emergency Americans dial 911 what do other countries do? Is a there a National emergency dispatch, or do yall call a local number.
In Norway:
110 for fire emergency
112 for police
113 for medical emergency
They are national numbers, but your call will automatically go through to the nearest emergency central, I believe. If you call the wrong number, like 113 instead of 112, they will just put you through to the other line.
In Sweden you dial 112 for emergencies.. and then they will help you from there.. 911 works as well if Im not completely mistaken.. and you will be directed to 112..
Yeah, in the US you can dial 911...would the assailants have let the car assengers do so without breaking the windows and dragging them out? When you have only seconds to react, the police are still miutes away.

Re: Shoot to disable one, the beat up the others: What if one of them has a gun? What if you delay, and the three others wrestle away the gun from you? It looks like he's got a passenger, so even if he doesn't care about himself, his wife/daughter could be beaten or raped. Also, when you're in an emergency situation, you can lose fine motor control, so you pretty much have to aim for "center of mass." If the gun comes out, you shoot to hit your assailant. If he/they aren't assailants, then don't take it out.

Finally, this is Brazil, but do you doubt that there are parts of the US that are worse than this video?
"Shoot for the kneecap:" You're thinking of Michael Weston, or some other TV character who needs to not be protrayed as ruthless. The only time a kneecap shot is any good is with a shotgun. Even if you don't kill the guy, and even if your aim is off, you'll still remove a lot of flesh which will lead to death by blood loss.
