And just like that, an ignorant bitch-faced asshole appears for the sake of trying to appear clever to a bunch of faceless Internet people they will never meet on a webpage that will become buried and forgotten. Congratulations, you are precisely what is wrong with the human race.
I'm sorry but I believe you are capable of gaining and loosing weight. Granted some people can't help being heavier than others and I think that's what they were saying in the post, but how much you weigh is entirely your own choice.
You CANT control your appearance. You can get plastic surgery, but that's risky and some people rather not do it. I'M not Tonks and I can't control how I look.
in some cases you cant change your weight there are diseases that can make you gain weight but if you are a normal healthy human being then yes you can gain or lose weight as you please
You can definitely change weight, and if you really want you could give yourself a disability... Sexual Orientation is kind of in the middle, as there are some people born gay and some that chose it (this is my big problem with giving full equal protection)
Really no one? So guys in prison were already gay, the just didn't act on it until they were in jail? I'm not saying that's the majority, but there ARE some that choose it... The fact that it's so easy to fake is why it doesn't deserve equal protection, you can't fake a race or gender (without some surgery), but its easy to pretend to be gay.
Most people in prison play hide the banana because they're sexually deprived, not gay. And just because some people pretend to be gay doesnt mean the lot of them don't deserve equal protection. That would be fucked up.
I'm sure I'm not going to win in the view of most people, but I know 2 different women who both chose to be gay (now in 2 different couples)... They didn't have any luck with men for a long time and gave up and decided to try women, they're rationale was that other women were less judgmental (even though they both really missed men)... I'm not saying hats every case, but it is possible to chose for some
But boobs are still pretty great right? My gay friend is entirely into dudes but he'll admit that he liked the feel of boobs. I like that we can identify on that aspect
So maybe rather than witholding equal rights and protection from the people who can't choose, we should support everyone in being who they are and not pretending to be who they aren't.
Its really hard to explain, but there's a difference between treating people equal and equal protection in the eyes of the law. Basically, what would happen if equal protection is granted is that homosexuals would be considered a protected class, this change the level of scrutiny used to judge anything that may remotely be considered prejudicial. This becomes problematic when someone can just chose to be different (as my friends did). There's no way to actually describe this in a comment, it was over a month of law school talking about this.
I still don't see how there's a problem, even if some people can "choose" (maybe they're just bi? There are all different levels of sexual attraction, and I'm very certain you can't change that, you just might have a little bit of both. There is no human on earth who can look at someone and go "I'm /going to be attracted to you/" and just magically have it happen. Your friends might have been /more/ attracted to men, but they can't just magically not be attracted to men (you said yourself they missed them) any more than you can magically be attracted to women.), but even if some people /can/ choose, it still doesn't make any sense to me to give them any different rights just because they chose to sleep with girls instead of guys, any more than it makes sense to take those rights away from people who can't choose.
>You can control your weight.
> You can control your appearance to an extent. Makeup, Plastic surgery, Fitness, clothes etc.
>You can also change your gender identity. You may be born a male but feel like a female inside and you can change that.
It's true though, you literally CAN change your gender identity through hormones. But even more importantly, your parents can do it for you since gender identity isn't solidified til about 3 years old. How's that for fucked up?
Goddamn it, I asked a question to funsubstance in another post and can't find it, it was related to this and sexuality, you can tell its my question because it involved "85% straight and 15% bi-curious" (legitimately) help?
Actually, there are diseases that literally make it impossible for people to control their weight. People can diet and exercise as much as they want and only gain weight. Medicine, say to fix things like mental illness, can cause weight gain. Many do. Just because a person is overweight doesn't mean they don't try as hard as they possibly can to not be. Sometimes it simply can't be changed. So yes, weight is something that CANNOT be controlled for some people.
Yes, because I have a long family history of being overweight, I choose to be born a fat baby. I chose to eat healthy and I can't change! SirSwag, you are a basterd.
To add to the list, most people have very little control over their relationship with poverty and their health. Look up the social determinants of health if you're interested. It does make the American dream a bit harder to swallow.
The only things on this list that are true is height, race, disabilities, and some mental illnesses. You can change your weight. Even if you're born big boned you can keep it down, and yes you can lose weight even I'd you have a "disease" that inhibits it. It's just difficult but possible. Gender identity iswhat you identify as. Gender and sex are different, sex is whether you were born male or female. Appearance is definitely easily changed: fake hair, colored contacts, dyes, makeup, etc. Sexual orientation, I won't get into that, but it could go either way. People who believe his list are just as ignorant as those who judge others based on this. Get off your soap box and stop being a pansy.
I would say body type instead of weight. Most people can lose weight and you can be heathly but never look like model. And yes you can change your appearance with makeup or plastic surgery but the only reason you would be made to feel ugly is a bitch faced asshole being a bully (combined with media and societal pressures its not an easy world for women).
Hmmmm, sorry but how are "weight" and "appearance" on the list? Most people can change their weight (not all of them, but most of them), and part of what is called "appearance" can be changed at will. Ignorant bitch-faced assholes are also the ones who will judge you and despise you over those things, because why the fuck do they care about you wearing different clothes or hating makeup? Screw these too.
Everyone is capable of changing their weight. Granted, we are not able to change our body types. I have 2 girlfriends with very different body types. One is 5"7 and 110lbs, she runs marathons on the weekends and she is very willowy. The other is a 5"5 welder and landscaper. She is 160lbs of pure muscle from all the squats and heavy lifting she does on the job.
I am 5'2, 120lbs, and a hairdresser. I get up at 6am every day to do 20 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of yoga. That only takes roughly as long as an episode of Supernatural.
(Yes, we ask eat healthily and see a doctor regularly)
Having different body types is one thing. However, it does not give anyone the excuse to blame genetics on how unhealthily fat they are. It's none of my business if you want to eat yourself to death at 35, but quit shoving your "body positive" nonsense down everyone's throats and telling my willowy runner friend to eat a cheeseburger.
You can't change your BODY TYPE which is probably what they meant by weight. We get it you, you can lose weight, but girls with wide hips or big breasts or boys who are lanky those things can't be changed (for the most part). BODY TYPE NOT WEIGHT.
Many people compare weight loss to alcohol addiction. The big thing between Over-eaters Anonymous & AA (alcohol anonymous) is that alcohol can be quit cold turkey. Some don't touch it for 10 years & get their chip. With OEA, you have to face food several times a day. You can't just quit food. And same with gay. You can stop having sex but you can't stop having food. It just gets harder with people inviting you out to events & parties & having commitments and good food takes time & energy. Loosing weight is so hard and complex and while we try, its a daily- heck, hourly struggle that goes on for years. Unlike sex or alcohol where if you pass a 30 day mark, it get so much easier.
You kinda do choose gender identity. I mean it's literally whatever gender you identify as. I'm not saying that you can't identify as whatever gender you want, go right ahead. But that is whatever gender you choose, so you do choose and control that one.
weight is half and half. A larger person could eat the same as a skinny person but still put on more weight if they have a very slow metabolism- but of course there are still a lot of people who gain weight simply because they eat a lot and don't exercise.
