I'm a born and raised American my family has been in america for generations and I don't get why its called football. I wish we would switch to the metric system, and immigrants are a valuable part of the economy.

I've grown up in America too and I also don't understand why it's called "football" (even though I love both American football and English football), but Canada also has a version of football that is similar to American football. I also don't understand why we don't use the metric system--makes it very confusing to watch Dr. Who sometimes ;)

What if I told you it's called football because the ball's a foot long?

What if I told you, we as Americans are the offspring of the people that other countries hated some much that they left. We are the outcasts of the world and yet we are one of the most prosperous nations. It's not our fault you other countries kicked out your dumb and handicapped and criminal people so they had to create their own nation to be as stupid, fat, and violent as they wanted. You ignorant fools need to go deeper than what the media and other fucking stupid sources tell you. End rant.
