Because there is no logical reason why a 5 year old should be able to use a computer. Yet he has to be or he'll be stuck in kindergarten and not be able to go to school. I think that is sad. And sick. And wrong on so many levels.
Can the people who downvote this give me a logical reason please? There must be one if you all disagree. So please share your knowledge maybe I'll understand it then.
I didn't downvote, but nowadays in order to do most jobs or get things done, you have to interact with some kind of technology. When children are young, they are able to learn and pick things up quicker and easier because their brains are at a certain stage of development. My family got our first computer when I was five. I wasn't forced, but I was curious and took an interest. I learned and developed troubleshooting skills by tinkering with it, and now I'm in IT. Not everyone will end up there, but again most jobs require some basic computer knowledge and the ability to figure out how general concepts work. We have a lot of nurses/doctors where I work that are older and didn't develop those skills. They don't fix computers or need to, but they use technology to log patient information and for making sure their pay checks are accurate amongst other things, and they have a lot of trouble. If they're going to need these tools in the future, why not teach them when it is easier for them?
This picture is ridiculously old. I doubt many people that actually grew up in this time are on funstubstance....
Also, I think there's nothing wrong with technology, even for kids, but because of the prevalence of tech now, it's become an active part of a parents job to encourage creativity, imagination and self-reliance in their children.
Not sure how old, there's not really anything in it to date. You can buy that bike today, I live in a 40 year old apartment building. It's just a black and white photo that could have been taken with a digital camera.
Can u not ... I mean kids can't help if they grow up in an environment surrounded by technology! Posts like these just make other people feel bad, we don't all want to raise our kids Amish.
