Well if they are just kicking an inflated ball around the field. Then why don't you go ahead and do it yourself? The people who are pay that much are in perfect physical and mental fitness conditions. And honestly how long do their careers last? ten or fifteen years? Although it doesn't completely balance out, great players usually fade in obscurity.
It doesn't matter if you're the best ass-wiper, top of the world trash collector or the most beautiful human alive, you should NOT be payed that kind of money for doing basic things or simply because nature gave you good looks.
Salary should be about the results of your work, the importance of what you do, not about how many people want to watch you do your thing on screen.
Well you said it yourself right there. Results of your work. They work extremely hard. And the importance is defined by how many people find it of importance. A lot if people find it important. Just because it isn't to you doesn't make it so.
It's what's paid for. Teachers, firefighters, and some of those people are played by taxes which explains why the salaries are low. Lawyers are paid by the person paying them and they keep most of it. Pilots are paid by the air company so they have an hourly salary like most jobs ( I think ) and doctors are paid by the hospitals so that is hourly as well.
Sports, however, are paid by the fans. Since it's so expensive, only part of it goes to renting the stadium ( the food is then also paid by the consumers ) and the rest of the money goes to the teams and coaches. Since it's in such high demand and there's only either paid to the stadium or the players, a lot is going to them. You can also buy posters, jerseys, signed balls, etc which is expensive and also goes to the teams.
That's why it physically pains me to watch sports. Those people are paid more than neurosurgeons who spent half their life training and the other half saving people's lives.
But then there's people like the Kardashians who are paid to exist and I honestly don't think it gets any worse than them.
They football industry receives millions upon millions of euros every year, they literally have more money than they no what to do with. This is due to the popularity of the sport. You want to help the problem? don't watch sports
I'm sorry, did I sound like I like to watch sports? Literarly the first sentence of mine was about how much I do NOT like to watch sports.
The problem with too much money could easily be resolved by donating it to charities, research or schooling system. It's honestly not that hard.
Well how do I put it? Famous sporty people still get paid gazillions of money. Obviously whatever money-donating activities are going on there, the numbers on those checks are not large enough.
Man it's just kinda irritating when someone tries to tell someone else what do do with their money. And how is it obvious the checks arn't big enough? I'm assuming you didn't do any kind of research on the topic
You do realise it's not about me telling anyone what to do with they money, right?
It's about me saying I disagree with the fact that people who bounce balls around with no giant beneficial effect get paid tons of money while doctors, policemen, firefighters and others who actually save lives and such get a miserable monetary compensation for their effort.
Obviously I have no right to tell anyone what to do with their (easily earned) dough.
Still, if any of those people cashing in gigantic piles of money for entertaining crowds by hitting a round inflated object had any fucking conscience, they would do they right thing and cut their own salary, their agent's salary, etc. by 90%. They wouldn't need me or anyone else to tell them what to do with those millions.
If everyone would stop buying tickets and merch they wouldn't get paid as much. It's because the NFL and all that gets a lot of money the can pay them. If the corporate didn't get as much money then the players wouldn't get paid as much.
