In Portuguese from Portugal, we like to say answer the phone with "to", kinda like pronouncing the word tow but without the w. It's a shortened version of the word "estou", which translates more or less to "I'm here".

Actually in german, you don't just say "hallo" you may not even say it. You'll just say your name, and maybe add "hier" (here)

Nope, it's "allo". "Bonjour" and "salut" are respectively "hello" and "hi", but we don't use these when answering the phone.

Diga comes form the word "decir", meaning "to say or tell". It's like saying "Talk to me"

I've always heard Dígame, "talk to me". Diga is just "talk" isnt it?

Well, I've never heard of anyone saying "diga". Where I live, we just say "hola" or just "hey" (I say hey when that person is a friend or someone I know).

I'm arab and I've never heard anyone say that. Mostly, we alternate between 'aloo' and 'hala'. At least, that's the case where I'm from.
