some people think that if people have condoms available, they will be encouraged to have sex, and even protected sex has a higher chance of STDs spreading than abstinence. But the highest risk is still from unprotected sex...
Personally, I think schools should encourage teens to abstain. (Religious and moral reasons aside) At a young age, teens aren't smart about sex, many are pressured, and the spread of diseases and risk of pregnancy is too high.
Yes. I know. I think condoms should be available upon request, but I think a school should encourage students not to have sex and give reasons why (diseases, pregnancy, etc.) I think giving high school students condoms freely would encourage sex, and I think that encouraging against sex would be a better approach.
Religious and moral reasons aside, I believe that schools and politicians should raise my children for me, because what with all the reality shows and iphones and whatnot, I just can't be arsed.
Mgoviea, you have a good point as well. Parents have the largest impact on their children, and ultimately decide what is ok/not ok in their family. Schools and politicians should not raise the children, but they HAVE to care, and must provide a moral compass because they spend so much time with the kids. Schools are an important factor of making children good citizens.
EDIT: Abstaining vs. Not Abstaining is not a factor in whether or not u are a good citizen. (Before anyone interprets my comment that way)
Honestly I think schools should actually teach about sex itself, not focusing on abstinence 24/7. We're humans. Most of us are probably going to have sex some point in our lives. Its better to wait until after school, but most likely some of us are going to do it while we're school age. Theres no stopping that. Teach about birth control, or what actually goes on during sex instead of saying "sex is bad" all the time. Personally, I want to wait until I graduate until I do it(and even then I want to lose my virginity to someone I've been in a good and long relationship with) But theres other people who want to do it earlier, or have already done it, and I think that teaching them about sex instead of not having it at all is a better way for students to be more aware of the actions done.
Girl in the middle row, far right: "most students have sex so ..." Yes, yes. This is why America is the land of teen moms. Sad that I live with people who think having a kid at 12 or 13 is ok..

You know who you are.
We really don't need any more Tea Party Youth on FS, thanks.
