Can somebody explain the dislikes? I'm severely confused.

The would be no one party dominance if there were no parties. Rather then everybody splitting into groups with specific wants and agendas, we just have presidents with no specific alignment. We are already technically dominated by 2 big parties, and our candidates are pretty much limited to two. With no specific party attributed to people, we don't have just two people from 2 specific parties to choose from. Although I understand there are already other candidates, the 2 parties are so dominant that it's pointless to vote for anyone else. Without parties as well, presidents can go about with the best plan without fear of losing their party's support. Who would normally be a republican can now vote for greener energy and not be religious without being attacked by members of his/her party for it. Sure favorite candidates will still exist, and sure it might make voting harder. But it's not as if without splitting, we have one party with one specific agenda.

Instead, we'd have many together with millions of different ideas to choose from. We don't have people with different ideas separating, and they don't have to agree on a specific set of ideas to support or disapprove.
