It's sugar. This type of spider will normally do this with similar colored dirt to hide itself from its prey.

Keep in mind that the spider is terrified and scared that he is exposed enough to be seen by a predator at any moment. I actually feel bad for it, it's desperately trying to find a way to get safe.
