But how can they hear sirens, a car screeching to a halt that's about to hit them, someone yelling at them to stop because they're about hit someone, etc.

I would assume they would have someone in the car with them or some kind of system in the car to help them.

Or they just keep really vigilant, it's not impossible to drive deaf it's the same as people who drive with loud music, they can't hear anything outside but they can see and drive carefully
